DIY Apartment Furniture

Update 161112

It's fun to see these images again as Hiro and I work on our apartment remodel.  It's as if all those past furniture experiments were building to now... when we finally have a place where we can do anything we please, and we plan to stay long enough to use nice materials!

What is .ogg?

Update

As I review these older posts, it's amazing how only the free-software and government links have survived.  Apparently, more than commercial and journalistic institutions, it's community projects that value longevity.

The following is a bit of information about the ogg audio format, in preparation for the release of version 2 of the 30 Days to Better Shime program, the companion audio files for which are released in both mp3 and ogg formats.

Trailer home on regular land

I started doing a bit of research about the second half of the mobile-dream-home equation -- parking the trailer home on an actual lot and tying it into the standard utilities.  The idea is that after spending a number of years in trailer parks getting a sense for the general livability of the house and livability of the town, we'd buy an actual lot and put the trailer home there.  The question is:

Do land-use restrictions make this illegal?

Wow, what a week! The concert and the natori ceremony are complete! More than anything, the support of friends and On members has been very, very special to me.

Thank you to Hiromi Ashmore for all the help organizing lessons for Sensei while I was in the theater. I couldn't have survived the week without you!

Thank you to Hiroka for the tireless help with food and taking care of Sensei.

Thoughts on Practice

Update (161001)

I copy this post over to my new blog in the middle of a three-month break from my regular routine of daily practice.  Living farther from ATUS and dedicating a lot of my time to the apartment renovation, I've told myself it's okay to go easy for a few months.  The hope is that once the apartment is in better shape, I'll be an even better practicer.  Let's see if I can prove that true!

GNU/Linux knowledge-base

Update

I continue to use and love GNU/Linux!  I'm using mainly Ubuntu these days (as opposed to Debian when I originally wrote this post in 2008).  After all these years, I'm still using my "knowledge_base_admin" file to keep track of computer notes.  While web searches are good for learning new things, searching my own file is faster when I've done something before, but can't remember how.
