refrigerator, Sub-Zero

refrigerator, Sub-Zero

Basic info

Notes from Brian in unit #10.

I had the exact same problem. It depends on the model on your refrigerator (the units were not provided with refrigerators), but I was able to fix the problem with the help of a YouTube video that featured a model that was very close to my brand (KitchenAid).

Here is the link: https://youtu.be/SDfO75bSL-g

My problem, which sounds like what you are experiencing, was that the defrost drainage had become blocked with dust/debris and had frozen over. As a result when the refrigerator ran a defrost cycle, the water would pool in the freezer and turn into ice. As the ice built up, water would just flow out onto the floor.

It's not a difficult fix, but it does require removing most of the freezer components and gaining access to the drainage - which I had to manually defrost. Again, it does depend on your model. If you're not up to the task yourself, I'm sure you should be able to find an expert familiar with this problem.
