Great composition session and practice. Felt fairly motivated whole time. Was even able to jump back into composition after multiple interruptions. Perhaps my ability to concentrate and practice for longer stretches is improving?

W VL. Reviewed vert. section, then started to teach horiz. section. Had "commentary" idea, where the important hand at any one time has a word or short phrase to represent how it's feeling; i.e. "bye" "wait for me!" "ha!", etc. Made it halfway through line G.
Struggling with the "arbitrariness" of some of these patterns... they might be easier to play and more interesting if they were clearer, but when I try to simplify, I miss the surprise.

Tempted by simpler challenges. Tried L-leading rhythmic improv, trying to keep track of how many L doubles I've played so I can predict whether the downbeat will fall on L (even) or R (odd). Led to L-R-R-L-R-L-L-R- sticking combo -- "LaRdeR LauReL LeeR" (gon da da GA da go GA da, and other voicings) and fun challenge of having L quickly play "gon-ga" double.
