Improvised choreo over 21 groove

Status:
Due Date:

Description

Improvising movement in 21 is hard!

I predict that the ability to move freely and time my strikes to land appropriately within an odd-time groove would improve my improvised choreography in all time signatures.  The necessarily varied-length moves might also provide useful material to break up my movements when improvising in straight 4/4.

Practice Target plan

Take a starting point video.
Continue 10-min 21 groove practice exercise with KM.  10x between now and end of year.
Take an ending point video.

Pitfalls

Risk of failure:
Loss of interest due to challenge of improv
Solution:
If you tire of improvisation, use the 10 min to search for an interesting move and loop it repeatedly.
Risk of failure:
Inconsistent practice
Solution:
This drill is much more fun for me with KM playing the base beat (I tried doing it to a recording) but we only meet once a week and sometimes take breaks. Show the drill to BO so when he comes we can continue the exercise.
Risk of failure:
End result is unsatisfying choreography
Solution:
It's possible that even if I can hit when I intend to, when I step back and watch it, I won't find the choreography compelling. That's okay. In that case, this is step one, and step two will tackle arrangement ideas.
