Regular practice at KM's place. Fun to talk about Road to Kumano w/ BO.
21 groove improvisation, taking turns. Added BO to mix. Liked his ostinato, playing regular quarter-note ka plus 3/4 pattern on other hand. I should use something like that with arm swings.
Need better "development" options. For example: play something that aligns well with grooves (matching low accents, high accents, or both), then movements vary and rhythms adjust as necessary.
Kaz piece in 3. Reviewed existing "modules" then quickly tried developing L-hand on ka, woodblock, hi-hat. Ran through L hand playing w/ R, offset by 1, offset by 2. ka tone proves promising, especially if we could each cycle through three different ka tones. Plastic woodblock tone seemed a bit silly. Hi-hat allows for interesting patterns w/ distributed diddles. Made audio/video recordings for KM so he can try arranging at computer. Despite low energy, productive practice.
Recorded calypso-inspired grooves for "Sarah" collab with Andy. Wasn't particularly inspired by track at beginning but grooves with BO and KM, plus BO's enthusiasm, made for a fun jam.
