21 improv practice. Started with goal of matching "don da su su don da su su" and not worrying about the rest. Wasn't quite as inspiring as I'd hoped... might do better doing that to recorded groove where I'm not worrying about keeping it interesting for others.
Moved on to exploring all sorts of interesting ideas. BO wondered if it sounds good to play a 7-7-7 pattern over the 5-5-4-7 of the ji. It *was* satisfying, so we each developed a 7 groove. We then worked out a "diminishment" concept to go from the fullest sound (one person on 21 w/ quarter note ride, one person on their individual 7-7-7 pattern, one person improvising) to everyone playing only the high notes of the 21 groove. Diminishment order: improv, ride, 7 pattern, anything remaining.
