Instead of writing complicated movement patterns like I'm doing with VL, suggested we focus on improvising on a theme. Took turns with limited rhythmic resources (quarters, eighths, etc) then searched for structures to help organize solos.
- player A - upbeat "don", player B - downbeat "ka"
- solo sections rhythmic development: quarters -> eighths -> 16th pairs -> 32nd pairs
- movement development within a section: none -> long and slow -> short -> long and fast
Homework was to try and write 32nd pairs pattern that starts and keeps one hand moving the whole phrase (no strikes or sudden changes in direction with that hand).
