Delayed by trying to fix network issues (late night and early morning).  Felt good to be stepping up to help ATUS with Katsuji and Julia away but lack of time, combined with tiredness meant I'm not terribly motivated to practice.

Notes:

Half-heartedly ran AP2 over jiuchi track.  Really unsure whether I should be working to play this set solo with more confidence, or should be mixing in improvisation.  Somehow the image of myself playing a prepared solo confidently doesn't feel connected enough to Kaz and Blaine.  But improvisation doesn't quite feel like the right solution.  How do I play my prepared solo *and* connect with them.  Will ask on Monday.

Notes:

Long yama oroshi at beginning.  Enjoyed imagining how we might work to create our "experiential" piece.  Perhaps videotaping a long yama oroshi while keeping mental notes of what we're thinking and feeling would allow us to identify key points, tempo, etc about which we could ask the next questions.

YK felt like this portion of warmup allowed him to fend off panic, thinking "I can play faster than this..."

Dark/Light Ka loop.  Started a bit slow and sped it up as it felt more confident.  I appreciate this drill for reminding me how the inbetween hits should fit together.

1-1-Jedi-Elbow loop.  Struggled to get consistency back.  How will we handle not having warmed up at the gig?!

Runthroughs from Sue Amen Break start.  Last one felt pretty good.

next: figure out beginning section and set goals for runthroughs during office hours.
